    Barbara Griffin graduated with the RBA in 2004, emphasis in COMM Studies and Gerontology certification. She obtained her master's degree with Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism in 2008, and was involved with the 'Cancer Stories' documentary and book, Veterans History Project (WVU and Library of Congress), Production of West Virginians Remember World War II with Producer Russ Barbour (PBS) and Documentary, and the 'Starting Over' Project with Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism. She is also a Hospice volunteer for Mercy Ministries with Chestnut Ridge Church, and full time recruiter for the RBA program. 

    I am a Zumba instructor, Basic, Gold, Aqua, and Toning and now an avid gym rat , as well as an avid documentary photographer. I believe in furthering your education, no matter what age you are, there is always room to learn more and be involved with awesome opportunities in the great state of WV.

    Semoa De Sousa-Brown

    RBA Developmental Advising Specialist


    Dr. De Sousa-Brown earned both her Masters and Ph.D. from WVU Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design, after spending years working in Africa and in Rome, Italy for Food and Agriculture Organization, UN.  Both her MS Thesis and Ph.D. Dissertation as well as her other research papers centered around development-related issues, like income inequality, high school dropouts, human capital, small businesses and entrepreneurship and economic growth of West Virginia.  Dr. De Sousa-Brown has more than 15 years of experience in Higher Education, advising, teaching and mentoring diverse student populations, where 8 of these years have been in International Education (Study Abroad).  She serves on the Board of Directors for the Council for International Programs. She enjoys cooking, sewing, outdoor activities, meeting new people and learning about new languages and cultures.

    I am excited to partner with RBA students to achieve their goals.  I am a firm believer of lifelong learning – your education is an asset that no one can take away from you.

  • Amy Diznoff

    RBA Developmental Advising Specialist

    Amy Diznoff earned both her RBA and MA in Communication Studies from WVU. Prior to her assuming her role as a Developmental Advising Specialist she managed the Student Employment program, worked with WVU Extension, and the NASA WV Space Grant. Amy has more than 10 years of experience in higher education and truly enjoys helping student achieve their full potential. She is a certified Pilates instructor and enjoys reading, Netflix, and spending time with her dog and 2 cats.

    Colton Metzger earned both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating with his Master of Arts in Student Affairs in Higher Education he moved to Morgantown, WV to begin his career in higher education. He was previously a Financial Aid Counselor before transitioning into his current role. Colton has over five years of experience in higher education and has focused his research on the integration and development of college students from non-traditional families. Colton is a passionate advocate for all marginalized identities and ensures every student feels welcome and safe in their advising environment.

    I have always been passionate about helping people and advising students. My personal hobbies include traveling, trying new things/foods, and learning about anything and everything I can! My advising style is built on open communication and proactivity to reduce error and increase efficiency.
