Student Spotlight: Katarina Cooke

What motivated you to return to college?
I had to interrupt my college attendance due to serious family issues. Then it took many years to go back, but I did because it just never felt right to not have a college degree in the first place.

Why did you choose to enroll in the RBA program?
Once I did go back, we moved and I was unable to finish my selected field of study because it wasn't an available major at the local university. I was facing having to start a new program from scratch, which meant many more years in school (and money lost). Then I discovered the RBA program, which allowed me to use all my previously earned credits toward the degree and still select a focus area for specialization. Additionally, I was able to take all classes online. For somebody who works full time and has children, this is invaluable.

What are your career goals, and how do you think the RBA program will help you achieve them?
I have chosen to follow the RBA Pathway program all the way to my Master's degree and just finished my fourth semester in the Communication Studies M.A. program. Prior to discovering the opportunities this RBA program offers, I never thought I'd be able to do this. Although I am not looking to leave my current position, with the quality college education on my resume, I feel confident that should I want or need to, I'll be able to successfully continue my career anywhere.
